Livestock Enteric Methane Emission Reduction Research Program

What does it fund?

Funds demonstration trials evaluating additives and dietary modifications that have the potential to reduce enteric methane emissions in the dairy and livestock sectors.  

The funding allocated was directed towards the dairy and livestock sectors for demonstration projects to: 

• Supplement feed with additives or ingredients, that have scientifically demonstrated efficacy in reducing methane emissions, and 

• Research dietary modifications that are intended to reduce methane emissions from livestock 

Who is eligible for funds? 

Eligible entities for LEMER-RP funding included: Universities (with or without a private partnership), non-profit research organizations, and California Native American Tribes

How does this program provide benefits to priority populations?

Projects benefiting disadvantaged and low-income communities receive extra points during application scoring.

How do I access funds? 

The LEMER-RP application deadline has now passed. The process was a statewide competitive process.
